Everybody’s idea of intensive driving courses are different. Do you want to complete it in 1 week, 3 weeks, 2 months, 6 months?
Before deciding on how quick you would like to complete your practical driving test I would suggest having at least a 2 hour lesson with an instructor to assess how many lessons you may need to be test ready. You need to be realistic in what is achievable and you want to get the most out of your lessons, so before committing to an intensive course do a few hours and assess what would be a suitable driving lesson plan for you.
On average a complete beginner takes 40-50 hours to be test ready. So if you are a complete beginner and you want to complete it in 1 or 2 weeks that’s a lot of driving per day. I usually find 2 hours of driving seems to be the limit for most people before they start to get tired and lose concentration. I find these really intense courses more suitable for people who have plenty of previous driving experience, that’s why it is so important to have an instructor to assess your capabilities. If you are looking to complete it within a short space of time you would need your theory test passed. Once your instructor has assessed your driving you and your instructor can decide on a practical test date that will enable you enough time to be test ready.
We are a small driving school which currently consists of 2 instructors, Lee who provides driving lessons around the Romford area and myself (Tim) providing driving lessons in the Colchester area. Because of this our intensive courses are a little limited as we have to work around our other pupils. We can usually accommodate if people require 6-8 hours a week.
The best thing is to give us a call and discuss your options and if we can’t accommodate you at the time we can always point you in the right direction.
