What happens on your first driving lesson?

If you are looking for manual driving lessons in the Romford or Colchester area this is what to expect on your first driving lesson with either Tim or Lee.

We will pick you up from your desired destination and drive you to a suitable place to begin your lesson. We would then swap sides and complete some admin e.g check driving licence, terms and conditions. We will then discuss getting things set up ready to drive which we call the cockpit drill, this would involve checking doors, seat, steering, mirrors, seatbelt.

We would move onto the controls of the car, pedals, gears, steering etc. Once that is completed we would then discuss how to move away and stop and possibly gear changes.

At the end of the lesson we will have a debrief on how the lesson went and what we will be covering in the next lesson. Lastly we would drive you home and arrange a lesson time for the following week.

It’s recommended to make your first driving lesson 2 hours long, to enable us to cover all of these topics. Make sure you ask us any questions you have throughout your lessons and don’t worry about making mistakes, it’s all part of the learning process.

The above is based on someone who has never driven, but time frames and subjects covered would obviously change depending on the individuals previous driving experience.
