If you are in an accident it can be quite a shock, therefore causing you to forget to take vital details from the accident. I would recommend writing the following steps on your phone or on a piece of paper to keep in your glove box.
1: Make sure you are in a safe place before exiting the vehicle.
2: Exchange details with the other driver:
- Name
- Address
- Telephone Number
- Vehicle Registration
3: Take photos of the damage to both vehicles and of the area where the accident happened also save any dash cam footage.
4: Check if anyone witnessed the accident and ask for their details.
5: Call your insurance company to report the accident ASAP.
6: If there is any injury or you do not exchange details at the scene then you must report it to the police within 24 hours.
